Not true. You focus only on the commercially successful and popular music. There will always be genuine and good music in the lesser popular subgenres. People are creative. They will make their own music no matter what technology can do.

If you ask me, the Golden Age of music is already dead and buried. Look at the picture you used. Freddy Mercury with Queen. Now that was great music. Or just take the 70s, 80s and the 90s. Maybe even the eaely 2000s. Incredible sounds, lyrics and singers. Now look at this mainstream-bullshit of the last couple of years. Every song sounds similar, some idiots remix the classics and call that 'music'. Holy shitsnacks, even the singers look like each other. And while there are some good musicians left, they are mostly unknown to the masses. Sorry, but this had to be said.

Technology only gave new tools to talented artists. Of course i'm not talking about shitty repetitive pop music here. Even if we don't count EDM and other electronic styles, musicians have more tools than ever to produce a unique sound.

No we are actually in a golden age of music, thanks to technology. First thanks to technology music of all eras have never been this much accessible to anybody, I have more easy access to non mainstream music of the 70s now than the one I would have by living during the era. Plus thanks to technology, people have more accessible ways to learn to play music or compose and diffuse. It makes music more independent of labels and radio.
